Movable Feast – Saturday 10th March

St George’s movable feasts are always great fun and a brilliant way to get to know people – all are welcome.
For more information, and to sign up to the movable feast please pick up a form from the back of church or speak to Sarah Pook or Catriona Moffatt.  Please note that completed forms need to be returned to church by Sunday 25th February.

Ecumenical Service of Compline – Sunday 21st January at St Francis

Everyone is welcome to a service of Compline, at St Francis Church, Wash Common.  The service starts at 6pm and refreshments will be served after.

Nine Lessons & Carols, 17 December at 6pm

Come and join us for our annual service of 9 Lessons and Carols next Sunday, 7 December at 6pm.   Mince pies will be served after in the hall.

Wash Common’s Community Carol Concert at St George’s – book your ticket now!

Now in its fifth year, and always a fantastically festive evening of music and mulled wine – St George’s Church hosts Wash  Common’s Candlelit  Christmas  Concert for 2017 – 7pm on Sunday 10th December! 
Featuring violinist Helen Page, Soloist Katie Minien, Harmony Choir, St George’s Choir.
With readings by members of the community and Christmas carols for the audience.
Mulled wine and mince pies will be served at the interval.
Tickets are £5 (under 16s free) and available from the church office.
Proceeds from this event will go to the West Berks Winter Homeless Project.

Early bird Christmas notices …

Yes, its nearly that time of year again…
Christmas Meals at St George’s:  for your diaries, the Christmas Meals for the Men’s and Ladies’ groups will again be held at ‘The Bowler’s Arms’ on Monday, 11th December for the ladies and Monday 18th December for the men.  Menus and timings will be available nearer the time.
Churches Together Christmas Meal at St George’s:   This is for arranged by CTNA for elderly people who would otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day.  Volunteers are needed from 10.00 until 16.00, if you can help with any of the following please contact Christine Inge at CTNA via the church office:  drivers,  compere, entertainers willing to do a 10 minute slot, someone to …

St George’s will be open all week for ‘A Week of Prayer for World Peace’

In these turbulent times why not join to pray for peace?
Pop into the church at any time this week to pause, pray and light a candle.  Prayer cards will be available to take away with you.
On Friday lunchtime at 12.30pm there will be a service of prayer for peace and reconciliation in the church – please do feel very welcome to come to this.
The International Prayer for Peace
Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth
Lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust
Lead me from hate to love, from war to peace
Let peace fill our hearts, our world, our universe.  Amen.

Riding Lights Theatre Company – On Tour at St George’s!

St George’s is very excited to be hosting the Riding Lights Theatre Company on Saturday 21st October…
Gospel Street… retelling the news
People are out on the street.
Another generation is looking for answers – a rich young career woman, an angry gang leader, religious fanatics, activists, crooked bankers, a surprising refugee and the bloke who bought some seriously expensive jewellery.
Despite their differences and social divisions, 140 characters want to meet one extraordinary person. Jesus has arrived on their street on the lookout for trouble – looking to do something about it.
Four young evangelists – two women, two men – piece together the startling story of what happened, just now, on that street. It’s a wild ride through issues …

Festival of Prayer 2017 – Saturday 9th September

You would be very welcome to join in the Festival of Prayer for 2017.  A day to explore different aspects of spirituality and prayer, held at Ripon College Cuddesdon, nr Wheatley, Oxford OX44 9EX on Saturday September 9th.

Each afternoon session runs from 2-4pm in St George’s church, and will be followed by refreshments.
