Renewable Energy Project (REP) Update!

Our vision is for St George’s Church to be fit for purpose as a warm and welcoming community venue for groups and clubs in Wash Common and further afield; so we installed a new insulated floor with under floor heating in 2014 and in 2105 we’ve completed Phase Four of the work to glaze part of the north transept to create a small community meeting space.  If you have a group looking for a place to meet, please do get in touch. We are committed to keeping our hire rates flexible to match the means of community user groups.

The great news is that we’ve now also raised the funds for the Final Phase of work, to install a GSHP with bore holes in the church grounds!  The work is due to be completed around the end of March 2016.  Not only will this provide future generations with a warm church with a sustainable, free, heating system, but it will mean the church building will be suitable for more regular and varied use by other groups in the community.

If you know of a community group that’s looking for a venue, why not recommend St George’s church to them?  The hire details can be found here.

If you’d like to follow and get a better understanding of what’s happening in the Final Phase of work, have a look at the George Goes Green blog.
