Yes, its nearly that time of year again…

Christmas Meals at St George’s:  for your diaries, the Christmas Meals for the Men’s and Ladies’ groups will again be held at ‘The Bowler’s Arms’ on Monday, 11th December for the ladies and Monday 18th December for the men.  Menus and timings will be available nearer the time.

Churches Together Christmas Meal at St George’s:   This is for arranged by CTNA for elderly people who would otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day.  Volunteers are needed from 10.00 until 16.00, if you can help with any of the following please contact Christine Inge at CTNA via the church office:  drivers,  compere, entertainers willing to do a 10 minute slot, someone to set up the Queen’s Speech on a large screen, kitchen teams, companions and people to help set up the hall and prepare vegetables on Christmas Eve.  Also needed are table decorations and a large home-made Christmas cake.

CTNA Christmas Outreach in the Kennet Centre – “Wrapped with Love 2017”:  CTNA urgently needs someone with a vision of how the shop space might be set up.  Setting up will be on Saturday, 16th December, and volunteers/resources are available but someone is needed to act as creative director.  If you are interested in finding out more, then please email shawchurchoffice@btconnect.com and mark FAO Julie Cobbett, CTNA Christmas Outreach.

West Berkshire Homeless Christmas Shelter:  From 1st December until 28th February 2018 the Salvation Army Hall will be open to the homeless, and will provide 13 beds.  They need 150 volunteers in three shifts, and money to employ a paid leader.  The shifts are morning from 06.00 – 08.00; evening from 19.30 – 22.15; night from 22.00 – 06.15.  Drivers are also needed.  For more details, or to sign up to volunteer, please see notice on the table at the back of the Church.
