Monday, 16th July – Men’s Group Country Pubs’ Walk   This year’s walk will incorporate ‘The Rampant Cat,’ ‘The Furze Bush’ and ‘The Bowler’s Arms.’  If you are interested in joining us, then please pick up a leaflet at the back of the Church.  Women are most welcome to join the Men’s group for the walk.

If you wish to attend the Adult Activity afternoon please contact Elizabeth Pook on 01635 47923, as I am away from 24th July for three weeks.  Elizabeth is looking for board games for the session on Wednesday, 8th August.  Any offers?  Thank you, Cathie Read.

Any experienced ‘crocheteers’ out there?  You are needed for Adult Craft afternoon on Wednesday, 15th August to give Carole a helping hand.  Contact Cathie Read on 01635 226936.

Thinking about being confirmed?  If you would like to find out more about being confirmed (or about adult baptism, which is usually combined with confirmation), then please speak to Revd Becky or e-mail her at bbevan.vicar@stg-stj.org.uk or telephone her on 01635 524994.  A service of confirmation will take place on Sunday, 4th November at St George’s, conducted by the Bishop of Reading.

We are looking to update the photos on the Church website and need a small stock of good quality images, which capture life at St George’s.  If you have any suitable photos and would be happy for them to be used, then please speak to Angela Brennan.

Two young adults, male and female, are travelling and working in the UK, and need somewhere to stay in the Newbury area until 24th September, close to public transport, with a Church-going couple or family.  Not necessarily together.  If you can help, then please contact Gill Briggs on 07490439529 for more information.

The last weekly walk will go ahead on the 19th July.  No further walks until after the summer.  Hope you may be able to join us.  Meet at 20.00 outside the Church.  Includes a stop at a pub for refreshment.  Do talk to me if you have any questions.  Bridget Laxton.

Bethany Lunch, Monday, 30th July, 12.30 to 14.00 in the home of Clare and John Huckle, 6 Westwood Road, Greenham, RG14 7JN.  Please come for a simple lunch in return for a donation to Jeel Al Amal Boys Home and
Co-ed School in Bethany.  Everyone welcome to this convivial lunch with a purpose.

West Berkshire Homeless  If anyone has any cakes or meals to be delivered, please let Terry Winrow know. Thank you for all you have contributed so far.  There continues to be a need.

Foodbank supplies  We are still critically short of tins of Rice Pudding, tins or cartons of Custard, Coffee, Tinned Fruit, Long Life Fruit Juice, and we have low stocks of Sponge Puddings.  Your continued help is much appreciated.  Thank you.

At the West Berks Foodbank we hugely appreciate the support we get from your Church in terms of food donations, volunteers, and prayers.  We do have vacancies for more responsible roles, particularly a Foodbank Centres Manager (for approximately 12 hours per week) and more Lead Volunteers for our Newbury Foodbank Centre (managing this for one afternoon per fortnight).  If you would like more details of these roles, then please contact Sarah Bennet either on 07955 626621 or by email at info@westberks.foodbank.org.uk
