Christmas Craft Afternoon – 5th December

Get into the Christmas spirit with an afternoon of Christmas Crafts!
On Wednesday 5th December 2.30-4.30pm at St George’s Church in the Large Meeting Room
come and join in wWorkshops include glass painting, tea-light holders and making pine cone kissingballs
Seasonal treats will be served with tea and coffee throughout the afternoon.

If you don’t want to do the crafts, why don’t you come along for a cake and a chat?

Thy Kingdom Come – Photos from a wonderful week at St George’s

Last week was a busy week in the life of St George’s.  The church was filled with interactive prayer stations to celebrate the international week of prayer ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.  We had (amongst other things) a labyrinth, a sheepfold, a vine and a bread buffet complete with giant pretzel! 
The church was full of people too, it was open all day, every day, with visitors from other churches in the area coming to see what was going on, plus groups from Falkland School and parents and grandparents stopping by after school and preschool.  Lots of people came to visit who would not normally cross the threshold.

Movable Feast – Saturday 10th March

St George’s movable feasts are always great fun and a brilliant way to get to know people – all are welcome.
For more information, and to sign up to the movable feast please pick up a form from the back of church or speak to Sarah Pook or Catriona Moffatt.  Please note that completed forms need to be returned to church by Sunday 25th February.

Wash Common’s Community Carol Concert at St George’s – book your ticket now!

Now in its fifth year, and always a fantastically festive evening of music and mulled wine – St George’s Church hosts Wash  Common’s Candlelit  Christmas  Concert for 2017 – 7pm on Sunday 10th December! 
Featuring violinist Helen Page, Soloist Katie Minien, Harmony Choir, St George’s Choir.
With readings by members of the community and Christmas carols for the audience.
Mulled wine and mince pies will be served at the interval.
Tickets are £5 (under 16s free) and available from the church office.
Proceeds from this event will go to the West Berks Winter Homeless Project.

Christmas Craft Afternoon – Wednesday 5th December

Back by popular demand!  An afternoon of Christmas crafts! 

Come and join us – make some tree decorations and learn how the art of napkin folding for the Christmas table.  Craft activities will be followed by a Christmas tea.

On NOW at St George’s!  Thy Kingdom Come 2017

From 25th May to 4th June this year communities and churches around the world will be gathering together to pray for their friends, families and neighbours.  Do come and see for yourself what is going on at St George’s between Ascension Day and Pentecost.
Prayer events of all shapes and sizes are taking place across the world, including 24-7 prayer rooms, prayer days, prayer walks and half nights of prayer. Cathedrals, churches and other venues will host Beacon Events, gathering people across towns and cities to worship and to pray for the empowering of the Holy Spirit for effective witness.
St George’s is open for this event, with coffee and tea available at 9.30 and 3pm.  This years …

Spring into Easter!  Easter Craft Event on 5th April.

Following the success of our summer and Christmas craft afternoons…. 
Spring into Easter!  Easter Crafts at St George’s Church
Join us for a fun afternoon of Easter inspired crafts and activities; learn how to make delicious chocolate truffles
and make your own Easter table decoration.
From 2pm on Wednesday 5th April at St George’s Church, the afternoon concludes with tea and Easter treats – do come and join the fun.

Murder Mystery Evening

Prepare to be entertained in style by the St George’s Radio Players when they perform their latest piece,
Murder at Monks Meadow

Scrutinize the dastardly exploits on stage while you sit with friends and savour a delicious meal. Then, when the drama’s over, all you have to do is exercise those little grey cells and work out who committed the deadly deed.

Creative Summer Club for Adults – Throughout August

Calling all adults: Creation is coming your way!
Why not join us throughout August for 5 afternoons of activities?
On the afternoons of 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st August from 2-4pm at St George’s Church, Newbury
We hope to offer some of the following crafts and activities:  
Singing, hand-bell ringing, easy hand sewing, picture journaling, flower arranging, circle dancing, beginners yoga, poetry, play readings, no hassle cookery, jigsaw puzzles, mindfulness colouring, beer tasting  – to name but a few!
Cream teas will be served at the end of each afternoon 
You might simply like to join us for a chat and some company – please feel very welcome.
